Frequently asked questions about GNLD products
Are GNLD’s products suitable
for sufferers of coeliac disease?
Coeliac sufferers need to avoid gluten found in grains such as wheat,
and oats. GNLD is aware of the concern in the community surrounding the
plant protein gluten (coeliac disease), and strives to formulate their
products accordingly. Formula IV, Tre-en-en®,
Formula IV Plus, Children’s
Vita-Squares and Vitamin E all contain wheat germ oil but as GNLD
uses only the oil portion of the wheat germ, gluten is not present at all,
as it is found in a different part of the wheat grain. Consequently, these
products generally are safe for people with coeliac disease.
What is GNLD’s philosophy in
raw materials selection?
GNLD search the world for top quality raw materials needed to fulfil
Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) product formulations. GNLD has chosen to
take full responsibility for testing every raw material used in its
products to make sure all ingredients are “pesticide free”. No matter how reliable or reputable the
supplier, raw materials are routinely sampled and subjected to rigorous
testing for potency and purity using state of the art laboratory equipment.
GNLD uses over 3000 different raw materials in the manufacture and they must
pass stringent Quality Control (QC) processes before becoming an ingredient
in any product. In addition, GNLD requires specification sheets and
Certificates of Analysis for all nutritive food raw materials purchased to
be certain that these raw materials are worthy of being included in a GNLD
product. This is the GNLD difference.
Isn't the daily dosage of Formula IV and Formula IV Plus in
contradiction with the label precautions?
Formula IV and Formula IV Plus both have a Vitamin A content of 4000 IU
(based on daily dosage recommendations) and 5000 IU in the Australian
Vitamin A supplement, yet the Australian products have a label warning not
to consume more than 2500 IU from all dietary sources. Vitamin A is an
essential nutrient in human nutrition, being required for a number of
functions includes healthy vision, normal growth and maintenance of various
cells and tissues, reproduction and healthy immune system functioning. The
National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) of Australia are responsible for setting the
Recommended Daily Intakes (RDIs) for certain nutrients in Australia and New Zealand. For Vitamin A, the
RDI has been set at 2500 IU of retinol equivalents daily.
It is the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) requirement for any
such product that contains Vitamin A to be labelled with the warning. It is
true that pregnant women should avoid synthetic Vitamin A that can
accumulate to toxic levels if taken as it has been linked to birth
abnormalities or defects in the growing foetus.
The Vitamin A in GNLD products are sourced from wholefood sources,
including health-screened fish liver oil (for Vitamin A Supplement and
Formula IV) and lemongrass (for Formula IV Plus) and are not a synthetic
isolate. GNLD’s Vitamin A
has the added benefit of being water miscible, allowing for enhanced
digestion and absorption.
